Why Join Stand Strong With Fellow Veterans

We understand the unique bond you share with other veterans of overseas conflicts because we, too, have been there. Since 1899, the VFW has been the nation's leading veterans service organization in the fight to better the lives of all those who've worn the uniform of the United States military.

No matter which conflict called you to service, we invite you to join us. Stand strong with nearly 1.7 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary as together, we continue to fight for all that's good FOR VETERANS.

Program 2026–2027 Arizona Membership Program

Membership is the lifeblood of the VFW. Without active, passionate members, we will cease to exist. Membership gives our leaders strength through numbers and the voice necessary to legislate for all veterans and fight to keep the benefits they earned and deserve.

100% membership is our job and baseline we must always maintain. Every member is a recruiter.

The Membership Co-Chairmen are responsible for planning membership programs for the year and coordinating statewide membership drives. Drives should always include the Auxiliary.

Post Commander Requirement Each Post Commander must personally recruit 3 new members AND the Post must meet 80% retention before 13 May 2027 to qualify for All-State honors.
Retention Matters 80% retention is an All-American requirement. Mentoring newer members and keeping current members engaged is just as important as recruiting new ones.

1. Honorable Service — currently serving or has served honorably as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States, AND one of the following:

A
Service in a foreign war, insurrection, or expedition recognized as campaign medal service, governed by the authorization of the award of a campaign badge by the Government of the United States.
B
Service on the Korean peninsula or in its territorial waters for not less than 30 consecutive days, or a total of 60 days, after June 30, 1949.
C
Service as a member of the Armed Forces in an area which entitled the individual to receive special pay for duty subject to hostile fire or imminent danger.
DD-214 & Records Eligibility is usually confirmed through a veteran's DD-214. If additional information is needed or the DD-214 is incomplete, contact the National Personnel Records Center online or by phone at (314) 801-0800.

Legacy Legacy Life Membership

Legacy Life membership enables VFW Life members to leave a lasting impression on our great organization. Three prestigious levels are available: Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Each level offers generous benefits reserved exclusively for Legacy Life members. Once your Legacy Life membership begins, an annual endowment in your name will be made to your Post, Department, and the national organization — ensuring your contributions help not only today's veterans, but the veterans of tomorrow.

You may also purchase a Memorial Legacy in the name of a deceased VFW Life member to help future generations know and remember their sacrifice and contributions.
